This book explores the origin and nature of souls and chronicles their struggle to recover God consciousness and rediscover the lost knowledge of their spiritual purpose. It is the purpose of every soul to become a companion of God. The relation between mind and spirit, and consciousness and reality are discussed. The soul’s struggle to remember and rediscover its spiritual purpose is chronicled, including the way in which a soul can use the material world and interpersonal relationships to recover the memory of its spiritual purpose. There is a universal God consciousness, a Creative Force that brought forth the reality of a cosmic realm and the physical universe it contains. God creates realms of reality as he manifests his creative desires through the activity of his will, mind, and spirit. God is Love. To fulfill his desire for loving companionship God created souls, portions of himself, made in his image. Steadfast love does not exist in a master-slave relationship, so souls were granted free will. Rebellious souls lost awareness of their Creator and purpose when they used free will in selfish ways that violated spiritual law. To correct this propensity for spiritual error, God created a causal physical realm of spirit-energy where souls can purge selfish traits and restore their God consciousness through material opportunity during incarnation, the animation of human bodies. The manner in which an incarnated soul interacts within a family and in human society is of supreme importance to its future. Interpersonal relationships that develop as the conscious mind matures and the soul becomes a participating member of human society are critical to the spiritual growth of the soul. The decisions that a soul makes during life on earth in relation to its inherent spiritual attributes and the spiritual law to which the soul is accountable determines the ultimate fate of the soul. The journey of the wayward soul is presented in an orderly fashion from its creation and spiritual fall in the cosmic realm, to the purpose and challenge of its incarnation in human form, to its ultimate destiny and spiritual maturity in Christ Consciousness.
