Description
Rutgers 1969 by William Baer
Rutgers, 1969 (the first novel in the trilogy) is about a crucial year in the life of Jack Burke, an undergraduate at Rutgers University, during the tumultuous year of 1969. Jack is multi-talented, vain, yet likeable. On the surface, he seems like many other college kids of his confused generation, but his intellectual conservatism makes him an outsider, completely out-of-sync with his times. During the year 1969, Jack is faced not only with current realities (My Lai, Woodstock, Manson, Altamont, etc.) but with many personal and spiritual difficulties that will force him to reevaluate his life and his opinions about himself.
